A Night of Remembrance: Kristallnacht 85 Years Later

On November 9, 1938, 85 years ago, Nazis began unleashed terror across Germany, raiding Jewish homes, vandalizing and burning synagogues, and smashing and looting Jewish businesses.  The carnage that they left behind gave the night its name, Kristallnacht, the night of broken glass.  It was also the first time the Nazis arrested Jews because they were Jews, with 30,000 men being taken away in the night.  Those Jewish people were taken to places whose names are now etched in our memory:  Buchenwald, Dachau, and Sachenhausen and other concentration camps.  It was a turning point in the Nazi persecution of the Jews.

We will come together on November 9, 2023, to remember what happened 85 years ago, to remember, reflect and pledge never again.
